Rosacea

If you find redness on your nose, chin, cheeks and forehead or if you feel your skin is not soft as before and getting rough with or without solid bumps and pus-filled pimples you definitely need to have your skin examined for a possible rosacea. The main reason of rosacea has not been determined but there are several factors and may be a combination of hereditary and environmental factors. There are some things may make the rosacea worse including spicy foods, eating items that contain the compound cinnamaldehyde, such as cinnamon, chocolate, tomatoes, and citrus, drinking hot coffee or tea, alcoholic beverages, wind, strenuous exercise and stress, extreme temperature (hot or cold), stomach bacteria (Helicobacter pylori), a skin mite called demodex and sun exposure.Rosacea often develops in people between the ages of 30 and 50. It is also more common in people who are fair-skinned and have blond hair and blue eyes.

The treatment for rosacea includes topical and oral medications, laser and light therapy, and proper daily skin care products.

Moles/Blemishes/Birthmarks

If you’re concerned about an unsightly blemish, dark growth, birthmark or a mole and probably concerned about the shape, color, size or if you have an unloved hairy blemish on your face or body, you’ve come to the right spot. As a board certified dermatologist and a Mohs surgeon who is dedicated for skin cancer treatment, I have a massive experience in diagnosis and treating of the moles and blemishes. I have erased thousands of dark or colorless skin spots surgically or non-surgically, over past 14 years. Always keep in mind that many of curable skin cancers begin from a simple mole and that’s why you need to do a Total Body Skin Examination (TBSE) once a year to be on the safe side. And one more thing: Stay out of the midday sun, wear sunscreen and wide-brimmed hats, and don’t be tempted by sunbeds. Using a sunbed won’t prime your skin for safer sunbathing while on holiday; it will merely increase your exposure to UV light and perhaps blemishes, wrinkles and skin cancer in future.

Chemical Peeling:

Dark Under Eye Circles

Dark circles under the eyes can be caused by several factors including lifestyle, medical conditions such as anemia and thyroid problems, loss of fat and volume, pure skin pigmentation, familial/genetic and sun exposure. There are plenty of treatments for dark circles but the most common and effective ones are: filler under eyes, Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP), Carboxytherapy, Chemical Peeling, Mesotherapy and few topicals like combination of hydroquinone & tretinoin, vitamin C, Kojic Acid, Azelaic Acid and Vitamin K. Depending on the type of your dark circle, I design the best approach to your concern with highest longevity and less number of treatments.

Melasma, Sunspots, Post-Acne Dark Spots (Hyperpigmentation)

Hyperpigmentation is one of the hardest skin condition to treat. The reason for dark spots or dark patches include sun exposure, genetics, pregnancy, birth control pills, chemical and thermal damage like cosmetics, acne and some medical conditions like Addison’s disease. Each type of pigmentation needs different treatment but in general topical medications such as hydroquinone, topical retinoids, corticosteroids and vitamin C, wide variety of chemical peeling, light and laser treatments and microdermabrasion can reduce the pigmentation.
